Community Corrections Advisory Committee

A collaboration among the Charlotte White Center, WomanCare/Spruce Run, Piscataquis County Jail, District Attorney's Victim Witness Advocate, Community Health and Counseling Services, Mayo Regional Hospital and others.

Founded in 1994 to oversee our Batterer's Intervention Program, this committee has written grants, adressed community concerns, and implement our Piscataquis County Regional Crisis Intervention Training program.

Clinical Counseling at the Piscataquis County Jail

Individual and group counseling for offenders who are serving sentences at the Piscataquis Jail.

Batterer’s Intervention Program

We work closely with the local Family and Domestic Violence programs, the Court system, and the Department of Probation and Parole.

This alternative to detention is a Court Certified, 48 week program for offenders convicted of domestic violence.  Education, accountability and interventions are intended to stop the cycle of violence.

Piscataquis Regional Crisis Intervention Training (CIT)

This is a project that trains law enforcement, emergency responders, clergy, game wardens, park rangers and others.

This unique, rural program was adapted from the internationally recognized Memphis Model of de-escalation intervention techniques for psychiatric crises.

We send presenters to the Annual International CIT Conference, to assist other rural communities in developing effective CIT programs.
