Community Support – Day Programs

Our focus is community integration, so we use the program space only as needed to gather at the beginning at the beginning and end of the day, or to work on cooking skills.  Daily and weekly activities develop community living skills such as; shopping, recreation & fitness at the YMCA, local libraries, stores and restaurants.  We actively participate in local fairs, festivals and events.

We offer two different sites; one is "in town" and the other in a country setting.  Additionally, we operate both a morning and afternoon session and both a small or large group setting.

Our staffing pattern offers intervals of 1:1 time for closely supervised attention, as well as smaller groups that focus on increasing communication skills, sensory integration and physical motor skills.  Each group is assembled based on the needs, abilities and interests of the participants.

Elders Community Support Day Program

This day treatment/habilitation program serves many older participants who need help with maintaining skills and mental acuity. 1:1 staffing is available, in addition to group activities tailored to older participants, that take place in the center and in the community: music, crafts, puzzles, memory exercises, swimming and fitness at the YMCA, bowling and Holiday themed activities.

Haven Community Support Day Program

The Haven is a unique day program that helps to develop social and independent living skills.  Staff facilitate themed group activities for skill building, including voting responsibilities, community service, grocery shopping, problem solving, cooking classes, swimming at the YMCA, library visits, bowling and participating in community events.

Expressive Arts

Art classes are a very important part of our Day/habilitation programs. Concepts and techniques of art are taught by using step-by-step guidance, which encourages freedom of expression and improves self-esteem, in addition to developing other abilities. CWC artists love art time and they have great fun expressing themselves and demonstrate pride in their work.

Some of the artwork is reproduced, marketed, displayed and offered for sale with 50% of the purchase price returning to the artist.
